Why did I create this website?

I had my first personal website back in the 1990s. I also had a moderately successful blog in the mid-2000s, writing about my experiences living in China as an expat and all the weird and wonderful experiences I was having. That died after I realized it was taking a large amount of time for very little reward and I did have a busy full time job as well.

So why now? Aren't blogs almost extinct? Well, yes and no. A lot of things have moved on to other platforms like Tiktok, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram, but I have decided to use this new incarnation of my website as a sort of personal branding tool. I am currently jobless and it could be beneficial to have a website so prospective employers or clients can have a look at this site and find out a bit more about me before deciding to interview me or even hire me. Apart from finding out some useful information, my hope is that it also demonstrates my website building skills and my communication skills.

So, let's see how this goes and whether it survives in the long term.
